Nothing beats the feeling of coming home to a clean house after a long day’s work but, the sad truth is that no one else is probably going to clean your house for you. Thankfully, there are power cleaning tools out there that you can turn to for some extra strength.

One of our favorite power tools for cleaning is the drill brush. It’s compact and super easy to use. It is also very effective at removing tough dirt and stains anywhere you have them.

We tested a few of the best drill brushes out there on every surface possible: tiles, carpets, rugs, and more. Keep reading to find out which three came out on top.

It’s color coordinated so you don’t end up using the brush for the bathroom in the kitchen or somewhere else. The varied stiffness on each brush’s bristles allows you to choose the perfect one for any kind of job. Each brush head features a sturdy quick change shaft that lets you switch from one brush to another in a matter of seconds with ease. Upon testing, we noticed how seamlessly these brush heads fit into your cordless drill so you don’t have to worry about wobbly brush heads splashing water and chemicals everywhere while you’re trying to clean.

Most notable upside: We are stunned by how little effort was required to get the soap and scum in our shower with the help of the original brush. We’ve been meaning to clean the build-up for a while so we expected the dirt to be a little harder to remove but, alas, it took very little pressure in so little time. Amazing!

Biggest downsides: There’s no stiff brush that’s small enough to fit into the little nooks and crannies where all the toughest stains and dirt gather.

All the attachments included in this kit can help you achieve that pristine bathroom of your dreams without you having to break a sweat. The brushes are not color coordinated like the ones in other Drillbrush cleaning kits, but they come in different shapes and sizes to avoid confusion and each one serves a unique purpose. They’re all medium stiffness which means they’re tough enough to clean, but also gentle enough to keep your tiles, glasses, and other bathroom fixtures scratch-free. We were amazed by how quickly we were able to clean the floor (tiles and grout) of a regular sized bathroom with the big, flat brush. We usually use a long handle scrub brush for the floor and a toothbrush to get into the nitty-gritty of the grout but because the big, flat brush did both jobs, our cleaning time was reduced in half. One thing we noticed about this set in particular, though, is that they tend to splatter water and product all around, especially when your drill is on the high setting. We found that not pressing on the brush too much helps with this issue, but it takes longer to take stubborn dirt off of surfaces this way.

Most notable upside: We love that this brush does exactly what it’s advertised to do: help you clean your bathroom without breaking a sweat. It’s easy to use and very effective and the size and shape variation makes this kit perfect for any surface in the bathroom.

Biggest downsides: We wish the nylon bristles’ quality was a little better. We noticed that after cleaning two bathrooms (guest bath and master bath), the bristles started to fray.

Keeping your house spotless shouldn’t break the bank and while we agree that most home cleaning gadgets and devices are often quite expensive, there are also those that are budget-friendly but efficient. Case in point: the Holikme 4-pack Drill Brush All Purpose Drill Scrub Brush Kit.

This particular set is more affordable compared to its competitors, but we think it performs just as well. Just like the others, it comes with 3 brushes in different shapes and sizes. The bristles on the brushes are fairly stiff, but still gentle enough to be used on delicate surfaces like glass, marble, and acrylic. We loved having more control and being able to get into hard to reach places with the extended reach attachment that comes with this kit. It was fairly easy to reach the corners of the shower, the nooks and crannies around the toilet, and even the tight spots around the faucets and the sink. This allowed us to be more thorough with our cleaning routine, especially in the bathroom.

Most notable upside: We were able to clean areas more thoroughly, thanks to the extended reach attachment.

Biggest downsides: These brushes still require a bit of elbow grease for more stubborn dirt and stains.

Tips for Better Results

When working with a drill brush, remember that the power mainly comes from the drill and not the brush. Having a good quality drill on hand is a great way to ensure that you won’t need to exert too much effort trying to get dirt and stains out.

For dirt and stains that have hardened from being neglected over time, we found that the best way to deal with them is to soak them in concentrated product solution and let it sit there before you start scrubbing. Doing this softens the dirt and lifts the stain, making the whole cleaning process a lot quicker.

Lastly, to avoid patchy-looking results, it’s best to stick to a pattern while scrubbing. Out of all the methods we tried, we found that starting with small to medium circles and moving forward in one direction (left to right or top to bottom) worked the best. This method makes it hard for you to miss a line or two so you get an even, clean result.
