Every homeowner doesn’t enjoy sorting out their groceries, especially when it involves storing them into the refrigerator. Most people just find themselves stuffing everything inside, not even bothering organizing them according to categories or expiration dates.

The thing is, an organized refrigerator can help you save a lot of time and money. Aside from making your refrigerator look cleaner and visually appealing, it can also help you when you have to prepare meals, saving you a large amount of time and effort as well. But how can your organize your refrigerator? Below are some steps or tips you can follow:

1.Make an Inventory

The first step in getting your refrigerator organized is by doing an inventory of all the items inside it. Make sure that you take out all the items and clean them out. You can do this by discarding expired items, or those that you think you won’t be using anymore. Put all the other items that you plan on putting back into a cooler or a cold container.

2.Group Similar Items Together

The next thing you can do is to group similar items together. For example, put your dressings and other condiments in one bin and label them. You can use refrigerator bins or containers. You can even have labels on these bins to make it look more organized as well. You can choose ones that have handles on them so that you can easily grab onto it and take it to the kitchen or into your preparation area when you are preparing a meal.

3.Take Note of the Location

There are spots in your refrigerator that tend to colder or less cold compared to other areas. For example, the bottom area of your refrigerator tends to be the coldest part, so you can place all your perishable goods on this side or area. Put all food items that require no cooking at the top area, since this location is warmer.

4.Keep It Accessible

For the items that you use often, make sure that you place them in an area where you can easily see them and grab them. This provides easy access not just for you, but for the other members of the household as well. For the snacks, you can place them inside containers that can easily be opened, or transparent ones so that you can easily see what’s inside as well.

5.Stack Items

Stacking items also helps save space while making your refrigerator look much more organized. If you tend to have a lot of bottles or cans inside your refrigerator, then you can stack them in an area inside it. You can also consider a dispenser to safe space and provide easy access as well.
